Stay Details

Your stay will be in a mud cottage (double, triple or four bedded)with attached marbled and tiled toilets. For option 2, 1 night stay in the boat with very basic amenities and non attached washroom. Only people with sense of adventure should go ahead and book this (boat available only from September to March)

The eco-village is set up on 2 acres of land with 17 mud cottages, a center for meeting, an open kitchen for guests to see their meals being prepared, a community center, a farm house, few ponds and a huge land for vegetation and paddy fields. Lanterns, lamps and some solar powered lights are used here since this island is free of electricity.

Package Itinerary

  • Day 1
  • Village of Honey Collectors
  • 8AM: Meet at the office of the tour operator, and leave Calcutta by car/van (non ac). Guests can also have a pick up point from Science city at 9am. Three and half hours of journey to Godkhali, the last road point.
  • 11AM: Cross over to the island of Gosaba, which has no car or electricity.
  • 1.30PM: Reach the eco village resort in the village of Satjelia, followed by lunch.
  • 3.00PM: A walk through the beautiful paddy fields and the village of honey collectors and fishermen, looking out for local rituals and beliefs.
  • 3.30PM : Country boat ride for bird watching, during two to three hours, spotting seven types of kingfisher, egret, brahmani eagles, pond heron, black cormorants etc and above all getting introduced to the lovely mangroves, with surreal creatures like fiddler crabs, mud skipper fish etc.
  • 6.30PM: Return to the eco village, just after the sunset.
  • 7PM: An enchanting evening with the local musicians with their age old musical instruments, trying to understand the local music in their backyard. A session of refreshments.
  • 8.30-9PM: Dinner is served according to the leisure of every individual guest, getting prepared to spend the night in the mud cottages of this eco village or in the sleeping cabins of the boats. This Eco-village is powered by Solar energy so you can have the comforts of a fan and light in your cottage with the silence of the jungle and be sure to sleep like a baby.
  • Day 2
  • Cruize through Channels and Creeks
  • 6.30AM: Aim to start as early as possible, board the personalized engine boat get the required permissions from the forest office, which is just opposite to this village, and head off into the jungle, for a rendezvous with one of the biggest mangroves of the world, rich in flora and fauna.
  • This boat cruise will last till sunset and during this period visit 3 watch towers, namely Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali and Dobanki.
  • Cruising the small channels and creeks, spot different wildlife, spotted dear, wild boars, civet cat, monitor lizard, crocodiles, dolphins and of course the ROYAL BENGAL TIGER.
  • Breakfast, lunch and other refreshments will be cooked and served on the boat.
  • 4.30PM: Back to the village.
  • 5.30PM: This evening is without any activities, but the traveler can enjoy volleyball in the small white sand beach, sit on the banks of the river in front of the eco village or take a walk in the eco village under the sky crowded with stars, enjoying the silence and the pollution free air of this village, or go pay a visit to the families of honey collectors and fishermen, or make bonfire.
  • Day 3
  • Island on Wheels
  • A small walk in the village for pictures of sunrise, mangroves, village and birds, or else cycle can be provided for the ones who would like to explore the island on wheels.
  • 9.00AM: Breakfast and start for Kolkata
  • 3.00-3.30PM: reach Kolkata
