Stories of Haunted Places in India

Lots have be spoken and researched on the topic of supernatural happenings, spirits and ghosts. But it is indeed interesting to listen to the various stories which make the rounds around a specific incident that might have occurred. Lets go through a few Ghost stories from India and see what you think about them:



The Magician's Curse - Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan
Bhangarh is an abandoned township which was established in 1613 by King Madho Singh. The story goes that the town was cursed to doom by a magician and whosoever builds a house there, its roof collapses. As per the villagers, people who stay there after dark, never return! A sign board put up by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on the outskirts of the town says, "Staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area."

The Ghost who slaps! - Brij Raj Bhavan Palace in Kota, Rajasthan

It is said that the 178-year-old Brij Raj Bhavan Palace of Kota in Rajasthan is haunted by the spirit of Major Burton, who, while serving as the British resident to Kota, was killed by Indian soldiers during the 1857 Mutiny. The soldiers killed Major Burton and his two sons in the central hall of the building and according to the tale, an elderly man with a cane in his hand, (the ghost of Major Burton) means no harm to anybody. However, during his night visit, if he finds any of the guards dozing on duty, Major Burton bestows a tight slap to him!

The Whispering Beach - Dumas Beach, Gujarat
Dumas Beach, the well-known scenic beach of Gujarat has been reported many times for its paranormal activities mainly because of dead bodies being burnt on the beach. People believe that the beach is full of spirits of the dead and some tourists have been even known to have disappeared while taking walks on the beach at night.

Forest Haunting - Dow Hill, Kurseong, West Bengal

The forest of Dow Hill in West Bengal has seen numerous murders. Locals believe that they hear footsteps in the hallways of Victoria Boys School during vacations. Many have even claimed to have witnessed seeing a headless young boy disappearing into the trees.

The Prince - Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune
The story goes that the Full Moon in Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune bring out the spirits. It is said that the fort is haunted by the spirit of a prince who was brutally murdered by his relative when he was just 13. Locals say that his spirit can be heard shrieking in the middle of the night.

Boozing Spirits - GP block - Meerut

This is not a very well known haunted spot. However, on a few occasions, locals have noticed four guys boozing on the roof top of a double storeyed house with just candle light. It is a common yet spooky sight for people around the house.
