Bullet Baba's Temple

  • In 1988, Om Singh Rathord (Om Banna) was riding his motorcycle (Royal Enfield Bullet 350) from Pali (near Jodhpur, Rajasthan) to Chotila when he rammed into a tree and fell into a ditch with it and died instantly.
  • The motorcycle was kept in the police station but was found at the accident spot, the next morning!
  • It was taken back to the police station where it was chained and locked, but again found at the accident spot the next day!
  • The legend goes that the bike would make it to the spot even when the fuel tank was emptied.
  • The news spread like wild fire and villagers believed it to be a God sent miracle and built a temple known as 'Bullet Baba's Temple' around it to worship the motorcycle.
  • Hundreds of devotees turn up every day to pray for a safe journey and offer liquor to the shrine!
  • It is said that Om Banna helps people in distress even today and travelers who pass by, stop here to bow to the motorcycle.
  • The tree is ornamented with offerings of bangles, ropes & scarves and the temple even has its own priest who has been in charge of the shrine!
