Our primary goal in terms of collecting information is to provide and improve our Site, Application, services, features and content, to administer your use of the Website and Application (hereinafter together, the "Service") and to enable users to enjoy and easily navigate the Site and Application.
When you register with us through the Website or Application and become a Member as a registered member of the Website and/or as a visitor (if applicable and as the case may be) and when you choose to post a Listing or book an Accommodation, or when you wish to contact other Member(s) of the Website, we will ask you for personally identifiable information. This refers to information about you that can be used to contact or identify you. Identity Information, Personal Information means and includes all information that can be linked to a specific individual or to identify any individual, such as name, address, mailing address, telephone number, e - mail address, information about the travel, bookings, co-passengers, and any and all details that may be requested while any customers visits or uses the Website but does not include your credit card number or billing information. We use your Personal Information to provide the Service and administer your inquiries.
When you browse the Website, SmartStay may collect information regarding the domain and host from which you access the Internet, the Internet Protocol address of the computer or Internet Service Provider you are using, and anonymous site statistical data. The Website uses cookie and tracking technology depending on the features offered. Personal Information will not be collected via cookies and other tracking technology; however, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Aggregate cookie and tracking information may be shared with third parties.
You can also register to join by logging into online accounts which you may have with Third Party Service Providers (hereinafter "TPSP") (e.g. Facebook); each such account, a "Third Party Account", via our Website or Application as described below. As part of the functionality of the Website, Service and Application, you may link your SmartStay Account with Third Party Accounts, by either: (i) providing your Third Party Account login information to SmartStay through the Site, Service or Application; or (ii) allowing SmartStay to access your Third Party Account, as is permitted under the applicable terms and conditions that govern your use of each Third Party Account. You represent that you are entitled to disclose your Third Party Account login information to SmartStay and/or grant SmartStay access to your Third Party Account (including, but not limited to, for use for the purposes described herein), without breach by you of any of the terms and conditions that govern your use of the applicable Third Party Account and without obligating SmartStay to pay any fees or making SmartStay subject to any usage limitations imposed by the applicable third party service providers. If you decide to register by logging into a Third Party Account via our Site or Application, we will obtain the Personal Information you have provided to the applicable TPSP (such as your "real" name, email address, profile picture, names of TPSP friends, names of TPSP groups to which you belong, other information you make publicly available via the applicable TPSP and/or other information you authorize SmartStay to access by authorizing the TPSP to provide such information) from your Third Party Accounts and use that information to create your SmartStay Account and SmartStay Account profile page and you will become a Member. Depending on the Third Party Accounts you choose and subject to the privacy settings that you have set in such Third Party Accounts, you understand that by granting us access to the Third Party Accounts, we will access, make available and store (if applicable and as permitted by the TPSP and authorized by you) the information in your Third Party Accounts so that it is available on and through your SmartStay Account on the Site, Service and Application. If there is information about your "friends" or people with whom you are associated in your Third Party Account, the information we obtain about those "friends" or people with whom you are associated, may also depend on the privacy settings such people have with the applicable TPSP.
We also collect the other information that you provide as part of registration and the administration and personalization of your SmartStay Account profile.
We also use your Personal Information to contact you with SmartStay newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive such communications from us, please follow the unsubscribe instructions provided in any of the communications.
When browsing our Website, you are not required to provide any Personal Information unless and until you choose to make a purchase or create listing for your Services or sign up for one of our e-mail newsletters or other services as described below.
In order to purchase hotel/accommodation booking and/or related services through our Website, you must provide us with certain Personal Information such as your name, telephone number, e - mail address and the name or names of the person(s) travelling (if not you). We may also ask you for other Personal Information. We require this information to process, fulfil and confirm your reservations and transactions and keep you informed of each transaction's status. If you are making a reservation for one or more travellers other than yourself, you must confirm and represent that each of these other travellers have agreed, in advance, that you may disclose their Personal Information to us.
If you choose to become a registered member of Website, you must provide your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, a unique login name, password, and password validation, and a password hint to help you remember your password. This information is collected on the registration form for several reasons including but not limited to:
As a Website member, you can choose to complete your online profile by providing us with accommodation preferences, address, and other Personal Information. This information is primarily used to assist you in making reservations quickly without having to type in the same information repeatedly.
We automatically log generic information about your computer's connection to the Internet, which we call "session data", that is anonymous and not linked to any Personal Information. Session data consists of things such as IP address, operating system and type of browser software being used and the activities conducted by the user while on the Website. An IP address is a number that lets computers attached to the internet, such as our web servers, know where to send data back to the user, such as the pages of the Website the user wishes to view. SmartStay supports your right to block any unwanted Internet activity, especially that of unscrupulous websites. However, blocking SmartStay cookies may disable certain features on the Website, and may make it impossible to purchase or use certain services available on the Website. Please note that it is possible to block cookie activity from certain websites while permitting cookies from websites you trust, like SmartStay Website.
Emailing Via SmartStay Account
As part of the Service, SmartStay Users may communicate with SmartStay Members through use of the "Contact Member" feature on the Site and Application. Where SmartStay Users have selected the option of adding one or more email addresses to an online form, the message they create in the corresponding template will be sent from SmartStay to those email addresses on their behalf. These email addresses will be used only for the purpose of sending email communications to the addressee. Via the "Contact Member" feature of the Site and Application, you may also speak with other SmartStay Members over the phone.
Safeguarding information to help protect you from identity theft is a top priority. We do not and will not, at any time, request your credit card information, your SmartStay Account ID, login password, or national identification numbers in a non-secure or unsolicited e-mail or telephone communication.
The Site, Application and Service can be used to facilitate the listing and booking of Accommodations. Listings for such Accommodations are made available via the Site, Application and Service by Hosts. Listings posted by Hosts, ratings and reviews of Hosts and Guests, and the Profile Information (as defined below) of Hosts and Guests, are visible to any SmartStay User.
When you create a SmartStay Account, we will set up a SmartStay Account profile page for you. Your SmartStay Account profile page will include your first name and last initial. You can select the other items of Personal Information that you wish to be included in your SmartStay Account profile page including, but not limited to, a profile picture, a list of the TPSP groups to which you belong. We will display your Profile Information in your SmartStay Account profile page publicly via the Site and Application, and, with your prior permission, on third party sites. Any information you choose to provide as part of your Profile Information will be publicly visible to all SmartStay Users.
When you post a Listing, we may publish that Listing publicly via the Site and Application and may facilitate third parties to publish your Listing on their websites through the use of a widget" We may also display the geographical location of your Listing in the form of a map so that potential Guests can see the general area and neighbourhood of your Listing.
From time to time we may add or enhance services available on the Website. To the extent these services are provided, and used by you, we will use the information you provide to facilitate the service requested. For example, if you email us with a question, we will use your email address, name, nature of the question, etc. to respond to your question. We may also store such information to assist us in making the Website the better and easier to use.
With whom (if anyone) your Personal Information is shared? :
When you reserve or purchase services through the Website, we must provide certain of your Personal Information to the hotel, agency or other involved third party to enable the successful fulfilment of your travel arrangements. However, we do not sell or rent individual customer names or other Personal Information to third parties. We use non - personally identifiable information in aggregate form to build higher quality, more useful online services by performing statistical analysis of the collective characteristics and behaviour of our customers and visitors, and by measuring demographics and interests regarding specific areas of the Website. We may provide anonymous statistical information based on this data to suppliers, advertisers, affiliates and other current and potential Business partners. We may also use such aggregate data to inform these third parties as to the number of people who have seen and clicked on links to their websites.
The information we provide to any such third parties is protected by a confidentiality agreement and is to be used solely for completing the specific purpose.
All payments on the Website is Verisign SSL secured. This means all Personal Information you provide on the Website is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. The same process happens when you make travel purchases on the Website.
In addition to the circumstances described above, SmartStay may disclose the Website member information if required to do so by law, court order, as requested by other government or law enforcement authority, or in the good faith belief that disclosure is otherwise necessary or advisable including, without limitation, to protect the rights or properties of SmartStay or any or all of its affiliates, associates, employees, directors or officers or when we have reason to believe that disclosing the information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing interference with our rights or properties, whether intentionally or otherwise, or when anyone else could be harmed by such activities. In addition, if SmartStay or substantially all of its assets are acquired, our customer information will most likely also be transferred in connection with such acquisition.
